Inspirational Tid Bits

Who are you, really? Does it matter?

We often wonder: What do people think of me? Do I look pretty? Do my friends like me?

Do you know that when God created you, He made you as a unique and special person? You are not an accident in God’s eyes. He created every single cell of our body with a purpose. Nothing about us is accidental. God doesn’t simply allow us to be a certain way or carry a certain trait without a purpose. We are crafted personally and purposefully, to bring glory to God. Each one of us is unique and precious in the eyes of the Lord.

In the Bible, Psalm 139:13-14 says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well”.

Let us take this one phrase “fearfully and wonderfully made”. It highlights the intricate design of God. "Fearfully" suggests a sense of reverence and awe. We are filled with a sense of wonder and amazement at God's creative power. Each person is “wonderfully made”. This indicates that every individual is a unique masterpiece, with their own sets of gifts, abilities, and characteristics.

The word “fearfully” used in this passage of scripture is the Hebrew word "yare", which is the same word the Bible uses when referring to have a “fear of the Lord”. When the Bible speaks of “fearing the Lord”, it doesn’t mean we are to be terrified of God.

Instead, what “fear of the Lord” is referring to is we are to have a respect and reverence for God.

Here is an example: Exodus 1:21 says “And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own”. The fear they had for Pharoah was a terrifying fear, but the fear they had for God was reverence for God. When we read that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, this speaks of the care and attention with which God has made us.

Am I important? Do I have worth and value?

God created me in His own Image.  Genesis 1:27 - “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

I am loved. John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world [insert your name] that, He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

I am forgiven. 1 John 1:9 - “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and   will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

My salvation is secure. John 10:29 - “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”

I am important to God because God created me in His own image, He loves me so much, He forgave my sins, and my salvation is secure and eternal.

What is God’s purpose in my life?

To glorify Him. Genesis 1:26 - “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

God made people to glorify him by wisely managing, developing, and caring for his creation

1 Corinthians 10:31 - “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”.

To be an ambassador. 2 Corinthians 5:20 - “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”

To be His coworker. 1 Corinthians 3:9 - “For we are coworkers in God’s service; you are   God’s field, God’s building.”

God’s purpose in my life is to glorify Him, to be an ambassador, to be His coworker. A representative/ambassador of Christ let the light of Jesus shine through them wherever they go.

Who am I?

I am chosen by God. Ephesians 1: 4-5 - “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”

I have a special position. 1 Peter 2: 9 - “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

I am set apart and appointed by God. Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

I am chosen by God, I have been given a special position and I am set apart and appointed by God.

The word meaning of IDENTITY in Merriam-Webster dictionary is “the distinguishing character or personality of an individual”. The Bible tells us that God created each one of us with a distinguished character purposefully, fearfully, and wonderfully. None of us are an accident in God’s eyes. Each one of us is unique and precious in the eyes of the Lord. Therefore, my IDENTITY is in Christ because I am chosen by God, forgiven, and justified through Christ. I am a person of great worth because God created me in his own image, after his likeness. I am chosen by God, forgiven, and justified through Christ. I am a representative or an ambassador of God on this earth to let the light of Jesus to shine through me.

I am important to God because: God -the wise, all-powerful creator-created me in His own image, He loved me so much, He forgave my sins, and my salvation is secure and eternal. Therefore, I no longer need to worry about my performance. I have faith that God will do the work through me if I live in dependence upon Him.

Have you ever felt unloved or unwanted?

Like no one gets you. The reality is, even if you have the best parents and friends, they don't know the deep issues of your heart and what you are struggling with. The truth is, God created man with a deep desire to be loved. We all want to be important and known. We would all like to be famous haha, for our name to be known.

Do you know that the God who created heaven and earth, knows you by name? He knows when you sleep. When you wake up. When you laugh. When you are sad. There is a God who can understand you. Who knows you deeply.

Dear friends, Jesus is waiting for you. He says, " Draw near to me, and I will draw near to you". James 4:8 (ESV)
